Text messaging helps Crisis
Alert Network in London Blasts
Mobile phone technology played a valuable
part in yesterday's crisis management operation as SSP
Rail Staff were given safety updates during yesterdays
terrorist attacks via text message.
The FASTSMS text message service was
a valuable tool to ensure the smooth running of the
operation yesterday. David Pride, FASTSMS Commercial
Director said:
"Yesterday, numerous schools, colleges
and businesses used our system to distribute vital information
in an instant. Text messaging is a fast, reliable, cost
effective way to communicate and it works even when
networks find it difficult to contact phone calls."
Suzanne Hollinshead is Director of
Talking360 Communications, who's clients SSP Rail used
the FASTSMS text service as part of their crisis management
strategy yesterday, she said:
"SSP Rail has units at main rail stations
in London. Today we have utilised the FASTSMS service
to cascade information to SSP and Compass Senior Management
about the welfare of SSP staff caught up in today's
explosions. We have been able to provide instant updates
every hour to SSP, which has been an invaluable communication
service."
Mobile Data Association figures show
Britons are amongst Europe's top texters with over 2.63
billion texts being sent last month alone.

service stations also used FASTSMS text messaging yesterday,

sure that our security measures are all in place to
protect our staff and customers."

and several search and rescue teams also use FASTSMS
